Middle School:

This year we have 7 Classes in our Middle School - 2 First Year Classes, 3 Second Year Classes and 2 Third Year Classes

As our school continues to grow, we now have a split-site setup, with our Middle School students based in the newly built, purpose-designed modular building at Shamrock Lodge. This modern facility provides a great learning environment, and students there have full access to the rugby and all-weather pitch at the nearby rugby grounds.

Students in Shamrock Lodge are following the revised Junior Cycle Programme (L2LP & L1LP), which focuses on Priority Learning Units: Communication, Numeracy, Personal Care, Preparing for Work, and Living in the Community. This programme takes a hands-on approach to learning, allowing students to engage in a variety of practical activities. Over the course of three years, students will participate in experiences such as running small enterprises and organising school events, developing both life skills and independence.

First year students recently hosted a fantastic Art Exhibition, showcasing their work inspired by the renowned designer Orla Kiely. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to display their creativity, and they were proud to share their talents with visiting parents and invited guests.

All year groups work  on the PLU Living in the Community. Students enjoy outings to local businesses and plan trips out and about. The students also work hard to save for their end-of-year trip, learning valuable lessons about budgeting and planning.

In the  PLU preparation for work students take part in ‘mock’  job interviews and will explore career opportunities.

Each of our PLUs provide students with opportunities to learn valuable skills that will benefit them both in school and beyond, while also fostering a sense of independence, teamwork, and community involvement.
